'Spring Bling' returning to Singer Island for 4th year

For the past three years the BET event called "Spring Bling" has drawn about 3,000 young people and musicians to the beaches of Singer Island, with an estimated economic impact of between two and three million dollars for Palm Beach County.  Economic effects are felt far and wide and we certainly need the help.

Officials say BET has agreed to return for Spring Bling 2010, but they still need the appropriate permitting as well as the Riviera Beach City council to give its blessing, since the city provides the security and manpower needed to host the event.  In the past, the Palm Beach County Tourist Development Council has approved a $75,000 grant to help offset the associated costs.

Originally there had been worry and criticism about the event coming to the city's beachfront, but most residents say Spring Bling has been well organized over the past three years, and there have been very few problems associated with the tightly-run production.

This would also be the first year that the city's newly-renovated beach area and Ocean Mall would be showcased as hosting the event.

Last year, I ran into the rapper Flo-rida at a hotel.  I didn't know who he was but he was polishing his Jag.

His entourage was nearby polishing a Mercedes.  Lookin' good!
