Every year the Town of Jupiter rewards its inhabitants with a celebration so out-of-this-world fantastic it can only be properly called the Jupiter Jubilee. Listen to the booming sounds of the local elementary and high school bands as you wander around the festival enjoying food provided by local restaurant favorites such as Tabica Grill and Sonny's Bar-B-Q. Other festivities at the Jubilee include live music, dancing, police K-9 demonstrations, and a special Kid's Zone with playgrounds, candy arts and crafts, a bounce house and face painting.

Temps going down again!

Florida's citrus growers are battening down the hatches for another cold night tonight. The total damage to the crops won't be known for a couple of days when the weather warms up. We are just finishing up with this year's orange and grapefruit crop and the trees were already setting bloom for next year.

For those of you reading this in the north, this type of weather usually lasts about 3 days before the wind swings around to the SE and comes in off the ocean. Then we get back to the fantastic weather we enjoy during the winter. If you have any chance to get down here and play some golf, now is definitely the time.

Low temps tie record of 12 years

This morning's low temp at Palm Beach Int'l Airport of 33 tied a record that has stood for 12 years. With the wind chill factored in temperatures dropped into the low 20's.

Active Listings in Jupiter/Tequesta

According to our Regional MLS, as of February 4 there are 1,061 single family homes and 969 condominiums and townhouses on the market. Even with the sales of the past couple of weeks, inventories levels haven't moved much over the past couple of weeks. Distressed properties continue to flood into the market driving the price point accordingly.

Sellers- What do the Case-Schiller numbers mean?

Foreclosures and bank owned properties are leading prices down...quickly! And the long line of pre-foreclosures and short sales means that there will be no let up in distressed properties. In fact, the residential real estate market is being driven by the simple disposition of distressed properties. Unfortunately, lenders are not acting in a pragmatic way to quickly get rid of these properties and lower record inventory levels. Until that happens, you sellers are going to have the face the fact that these prices are going lower and you should take the steps I've outlined on my website to make sure your home sells! Frost expected in Coastal Florida inland area

Here along the SE coastal florida corridor we are bracing for the coldest weather so far this season. Even though its nothing compared to what our neighbors to the north deal with on a daily basis, to us its really cold. About 10 days ago we had a hard frost and the damage to the citurs crop is still being assessed. Inland, our yards are brown from the frost and our citrus flowers were damaged.

Case-Schiller numbers

Last week, the Case-Schiller Index came out with numbers that can really help you get a handle on the decline in home prices. In general, we learned that from October-November, home prices in the top 20 markets declined around 2.2%. That means that over the last year, prices have declined nearly 30%. How do you handle this information?
