Jupiter: Where is the rain?

Jupiter is easily the finest, coastal town in SE Florida...and I should know.  I've lived in SE Florida all my life.  But part of what makes this sub-tropical paradise fun are the summer thunderstorms.  Each afternoon, they build out over the Everglades with towering thunderheads reaching miles into the sky.  With a pair of Polaroid glasses you can be treated to a cloud show unmatched in the country.

But now we are in the middle of an extreme drought.  By June 21, we should be having heavy rain every day and yet none comes.  Jupiter homes for sale are struggling to maintain their appearance since we are on a limited watering schedule.  Until it starts raining the only water we will be seeing is the ocean.

Jupiter beaches offer heat relief

Homes in Jupiter offer everyone the chance to get to the beach as often as they like.  This afternoon I was with a group of people bemoaning the fact that they never get to the beach unless out of town company is here.  If they are from the north, they only have to go a couple of times before getting sunburned and then spend the rest of the vacation in the shade.  In any event, we have miles of fabulous beaches here and some portions are dog friendly, which means you can bring the family pooch with you.  If you don't get to the beach you've got nobody to blame buy yourself.

Jupiter real estate is all located within a ten minute drive of the beach, unless you catch the bridge up then you have to add 4 minutes to your trip.  If you live in Jupiter Farms, this trip might 15-20 minutes depending on where you are in this rural area.

But when the thermometer soars into the 90's, there is no better place to seek relief than our fabulous beaches especially where there is a little shade.  Like under the famous Juno Beach pier.

Tiger Woods ready to sell yacht

Tiger Woods, one of our biggest celebrities, is reporteding shopping for a yacht broker to list his palatial yacht  for $ 25 million.

The 155 ft. boat/ship named "Privacy" has been docked in North Palm Beach across from Singer Island since his domestic troubles began.  Although he covered the name, it's kind of hard to hide a ship of this size.

Coincidentally, Jack Nicklaus has his personal yacht tied up just across the water from Tiger.  And Elin, the ex-Mrs. TW just purchased a home about a mile up the road.

Honda Classic dominates the local scene

The Honda Classic is in town and this is trumping even the spring training going on in Abacoa.  The Honda Classic was played for several years in Broward County just to our south and about 6 years ago moved here and settled in at Mirasol in Palm Beach Gardens.  The pubicity helped to sell homes in the new development.

When sales were established the PGA Tour event moved across the street to PGA National Resorty & Spa where there are 5 golf courses.  The Honda Classic is played on "The Champion" course.

Of course, the big news is that a local player from Tequesta, Villegas, won last year and this is the first event where the Tour is allowing cell phones in restricted areas.

I will be heading over on Thursday and nearly everyone in the area makes a least a one day pilgrimage to the event.  Of course, for the residents of PGA National, their quiet world is turned upside down for a week as the crowds descend on the place.
